epa02284740 A 30-minutes-long exposure showing stars trailings across the sky over the Roman castle 'Bukelon', dated back to 378 AD at the time of the battle between the Romans and the Goths, near the village of Matochina, Bulgaria 13 August 2010. The meteor display, known as the Perseid shower, because it appears to radiate from the constellation Perseus in the northeastern sky, is a result of Earth's orbit passing through debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle. This weekend is considered the peak of the shower, which is visible every August. EPA/VASSIL DONEV |
